SPECIAL FEATURE

We will be viewing The Pirates of the Carribean: At World's End on Wednesday, December 17th. The movie begins promptly at 3:40 and continues up to 4:30. Remember to bring snacks and a drink.

This movie is also open to members of the girls book club.

Pirate Ships

We will be completing our pirate ship model at the next meeting. Remember to read Chapter Four in your book, so we can discuss it while we are working on our ship.

If anyone has any books or information on pirate ships or what life was like on the ships, bring them in at the next meeting. Ship ahoy!

Strategies

October 22, 2008: Vocabulary - Collecting of Terms/Vocabulary about Pirates

October 29, 2008: Continue collecting interesting & unknown words. Read Chapter 3.

November 5, 2008: We finished reading Chapter 3 and started building our model of a pirate ship. Remember to read Chapter 4 and continue to collect vocabulary from the chapter.

November 12, 2008: We read Chapter 5 and worked on the pirate ship. Next meeting you need to read Chapter 6, 7, 8, & 9. Next week, we will be working on creating pirate codes, tying ship knots, and drawing pirates, pirate ships, and maps.

NEW MEETING TIME

Hi Members,

We will be changing our meeting time from Wednesday morning to Wednesday afternoon from 3:40 - 4:25 so that everyone can make it.

Set Your Alarm Clocks!

Our first meeting was a bust. Remember that we meet Period 1 every Wednesday. We will be reading about the young Jack Sparrow and about pirates. So, don't miss the fun.

First Meeting

We will be meeting starting this Wednesday, October 8th during period one. Remember to bring your breakfast or a snack to munch on.

Our First Book

If you've seen the Pirates of the Caribbean movies, you've probably always wondered how Jack started his life of piracy. This book series shows Jack as a young man starting out as the low man on a pirate's ship. This will be the first book we will be reading during our meetings.
